Experience the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, a showcase of the natural and local history of Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. The Discovery Center features miles of Niagara Falls hiking trails, plus hands-on interactive displays, a 180° multi-screen theater experience, and a towering rock climbing wall complete with fossils and geological formations. Most everyone who tours the Discovery Center agrees: Niagara Falls geology rocks!
Niagara Gorge Trailhead Center
Niagara Falls hiking starts at the Discovery Center’s Niagara Gorge Trailhead Center, gateway to the best hiking and biking trails in the region. The local Gorge Trail System offers challenging sections of steep stairs to climb and rocks to scramble over. Guided Niagara Falls hiking tours are offered during the summer season (nominal fees are associated with these tours).
Great Gorge Scenic Overlook Hike
Begins at the Trailhead Building and is an easy one-hour hike. Age Requirement: None
Upper Great Gorge Hike
Begins at the Trailhead Building and follows the Great Gorge Railway Trail for an easy two-hour hike. Age Requirement: None
Devil’s Hole Rapids and Giant Rock
Begins at Devil’s Hole State Park and is a moderate level 2.5-hour hike. Age Requirement: Guests hiking this Niagara Falls trail must be at least 8 years of age.
Whirlpool Rapids Adventure Hike
Begins at Whirlpool State Park and is a difficult, three-hour hike, including some boulder hopping. Age Requirement: This Niagara Falls hiking trail is only open to guests ages8 and over

If you choose to hike the Niagara Gorge Trail System be prepared. It includes steep stairs and rocks to climb over. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
