2014-06-14 (to 2014-06-22) Welland Rose Festival – One of Niagara’s longest running festivals

2014 Welland Rose Festival

The Welland Rose Festival began 53 years ago in 1961 and endeavours to bring home the people of Welland, past and present, to celebrate our city; it’s people, young and old, it’s history, it’s heritage, and it’s ethnic diversity, particularly through arts and culture, as well as sports festivities through traditional events such as our Juried Art Show, Rose Queen Coronation, Days in the Park, and Grande Parade. The City of Welland has always been, and continues to be, a strong partner in presenting the Welland Rose Festival celebrations each year.

Annual Juried Art Show (Date: June 15th – 20th, 2014)

The Welland Rose Festival Juried Art Show hosts more than 50 Niagara Regional artists with more than 150 works in a week long show. Our art show takes place at the Seaway Mall and has more than 75,000 visitors weekly. In addition to one of the highest art show prize monies in Southern Ontario, many of our artists have gone on to be invited to other art venues in our region such as the Welland Art Wall. Moreover, several artists have sold their works and received commissions through our show. We are excited to announce that this year our show will be welcoming back photography!

Fishing Derby (Date: June 21st, 2014)

Location: Welland International Flatwater Centre – CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

The Welland Rose Festival is pleased to announce the date and site of the 2014 annual Childrens Fishing Derby in partnership and with thanks to Mr. Stephen Fischer and the WRCC. The derby will be held at the WIFC where all the features of this beautiful facility will be available on derby day, June 21st, 2014.

In addition to plentiful shoreline and fishing platform spots the 2014 derby will see the addition of canoes, kayaks and small non-motorized craft to enhance this year’s fishing experience. We are looking forward to making this year’s childrens derby a truly enjoyable, educational and recreational event for the entire community.
